Obituary

Marilyn J. Omer went to our Lord's loving embrace on June 22, 2019.

Marilyn was the daughter of Dan Cooper and Matilda A. Kreymborg of Primghar, Iowa. She was born on September 21, 1925. Marilyn was the oldest of four children; two brothers, Raymond Harold and Leon (Lee) Daniel and one sister, Mina Louise. Marilyn graduated from Primghar High School in 1944. She married Charles (Chuck) Omer on September 2, 1950. Marilyn and Chuck operated Omer's Grocery and the Dairy Queen in Paullina, Iowa. They relocated to Omaha, Nebraska working in the wholesale and retail floral business. Marilyn worked for Baker's Grocery as head florist.

In 1978, Marilyn and Chuck relocated to Walsenburg, where they purchased Beth's Flower Shop. They operated the flower shop for 12 years and retired in 1990.

Marilyn loved to sew and quilt. She made cloths and quilts for her children and grandchildren and did some seamstress work. She loved planting and working in her yard; making crafts, and working crossword puzzles.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Gary (Lynette) Omer of Walsenburg and Louise Omer of Avoca, Iowa; grandchildren Derrick and Riedae Omer of Walsenburg and Leon (Christy) Vacarro of Omaha, Nebraska; great-grandchildren Paige and Corbin Vacarro; and sister Mina Thompson of Primghar, Iowa, numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, infants Donald and Diane, and brother's Raymond and Lee.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, July 27, 2019 at the Boies-Ortega Memorial Chapel in Walsenburg, Colorado. Final Resting place will be at the Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa at a later date.
