Obituary for Virginia Lee "Ginger" Bellotti (Summers)

Virginia Lee Bellotti, age 97, affectionately known as "Ginger", passed away on November 1, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio. Ginger was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on October 11, 1920 to Henry C. Summers and Myrtle Myers Summers. She attended schools in La Veta and Walsenburg, and graduated from Walsenburg High School. She then went on to attend Western State College in Gunnison where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Ginger was married to Ernest P. Bellotti in Southern California during World War II, where he was serving in the army air Corp. They lived and raised their family in Walsenburg, and were married for more then 60 years. Ginger was a sales clerk for J.C. Penney for many years; she was a school teacher for girls' physical education and reading at St. Mary School for 3 years; she was a Past President of the VFW Auxiliary in Walsenbug; she prepared evening meals for the Benedictine nuns for a period of time; and she served as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Mary Church. Ginger enjoyed a number of hobbies including crocheting, cake decorating, and growing flowers. She was warm and hospitable to many seminarians, family members, and friends; she served as mother figure to numerous relatives and friends.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; her son, Father Fred Bellotti; her great-grand daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Carter; her twin brother, Hank Summers; her brother, Dan summers; and her baby sister, Dorothy Summers.
Ginger is survived by her son, Richard (Susan E. ) Bellotti; her daughter, Susan L. Bellotti; her grand daughters, Becky Patterson, Jenny (Duncan) Carter, and Heather Bellotti; seven grandsons, Mitchell an Isaac Patterson, Christopher and Nathaniel Carter, and Avery, David, and Dallas Brooks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Ginger will be remembered at a Vigil Service at 7pm on Friday, December 1, 2017, at St. Mary Church in Walenburg; a funeral at 10am on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at St. Mary Church; and burial at the North Catholic Cemetery.
