Obituary for Steven Wayne "Steve" Wages

Steve should be remembered as a gentle soul who had a joy of life and great love of people. He was always ready to laugh or cry with friends, help those in need, and celebrate happiness. Steve passed away at age 54 as the result of a senseless act of violence.

He was raised in Osage City, KS and moved to Walsenburg, CO in 2010 to be with family. While in Walsenburg, he worked at Sporleder Feeds, First Choice Market, and currently at Walsenburg Lumber.

Steve had a true love of nature. He particularly enjoyed the mountains and foothills of southern Colorado and the wildlife he could view. He would frequently pull to the side of the road during a drive into the mountains, scale a hillside, and just enjoy the view and a sense of peace. His love of his dogs is well known in town.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents Patsy and Tom Wages, his aunt Betty Eggers and his dog Scrappy. He is survived by his son Mathew Wages of Topeka, KS, his aunt Jaye Chiverton, his lifelong friend and brother at heart Tim Shaw, and dog Honey Bear.

A memorial service celebrating Steve will be held on Saturday, June 16that 3 pm at Huerfano Community Bible Church, 603 Leon Ave, Walsenburg.
