Obituary for Simon R. Sierra
Simon R. Sierra, 53, departed this life unexpectedly on December 4, 2018.
Simon was a dear husband, father, brother, son, Papa, and friend. He will be greatly missed. He was a proud man, skilled as a great cook, gardener and wine maker. He loved to pack his garden vegetables and loved his pets. His favorite things to do were playing pool, picking boleta mushrooms, hunting for arrowheads, and hanging out with his family and friends. He was most proud to be Papa to his grandbabies. For 17 years, Simon worked as a detention officer for the Huerfano County Sheriff's Department.
Simon leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 33 years, Kathleen O'Rourke, daughters, Karina and Symone (Bo); grandchildren, Aneevae and Tydus; father, Rudy; and sisters, Rita (Jeremiah), Teresa (James), and Carmen; brother-in-law, Bill (Irene); and best friends, Ben Trujillo and Marty Campagnola. He is preceded in death by his mother, Vera T. Sierra; grandparents, Cosme and Candelaria Sierra; uncles, Thomas "Pat" and Dave Sierra' cousins, Chris"Poncho" and Roger Sierra; and pups, Bandit and Peanut.
Services for Simon will be held on Friday, December 14th at 2:00 pm at the Boies-Ortega Funeral Home Chapel, 115 Fifth Street, Walsenburg. There will ba a reception following the services at St. Mary Church's Msgr. Delaney Hall, behind the church at 121 E. 7th. Street.
