Obituary for Elsie "Elsa" Irene Fini (Carrari)

Elsie "Elsa" Irene (Carrari) Fini, 94, passed away June 4", 2019 peacefully and surrounded by her family who she intensely loved at Primrose Retirement Community in Pueblo, Colorado.

Elsa was born April 30"th, 1925 at home in Walsenburg Colorado, where her parents, Ercole and Rose, settled after immigrating from Italy. She was the fifth of six children.

Elsa graduated from Huerfano County High School class of 1942. Following graduation, she attended Parks School of business in Denver and Colorado State College of Education in Greeley focusing on business and clerical classes. She began her working career in Denver with the U.S. Engineer Office during the War effort as a Clerk-Stenographer receiving glowing evaluations for her efficiency and work ethic.

She returned to Walsenburg in 1946 and worked for Frontier Power Company as the head clerk and bookkeeper until her marriage in 1950.

Her family was the focus of her life and she was a dedicated mother. She was an amazing cook who prepared many treasured family recipes. Often her dishes incorporated freshly harvested produce from their garden. Music and dancing provided her great enjoyment and she installed the love of theater in her family. She placed great value on staying active through golf, volleyball, badminton and power walking. As a lifelong learner, reading and discussion were avenues to satisfy her inquisitive mind. she enjoyed her volunteer work with the Huerfano Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. One of her most treasured sources of enjoyment was a good bridge game with lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ercole and Rose Carrari, sisters Mary Jane, Margaret and Minnie and brothers, Mario and Richard.

She is survived by her loving husband, Pete, son Mark (Nina), daughters Roselyn Schuster (Dan), Judith Tennant (Joe), grandchildren Peter and Gabrielle Fini, Jenny Schuster, Alyssa (Alex) Leinweber, step-grandchildren Bryce Tennant (Jenn), Shana Bohrer and children, great-grandson, Damien Knight and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
